I’m so happy that you’re here, and I hope it brings you health, happiness, inspiration and lots of energy to keep moving forward in your own journey!
I’m really excited to share my story with you. I’m a Health Coach, Entrepreneur, Business Mentor, and Reiki practitioner. But most of all, I’m a mom and wife who tries to get delicious, real food on the table every day, ensuring my boys are healthy and happy.
I believe that we are the authors of our lives and that we can have it all – health, happiness, prosperity, amazing relationships, a fulfilling career, and balance. And that’s why several years ago I decided that I was going to write the next chapter, and get serious about creating my ideal life. It was time for a new adventure!
Hitting rock bottom saved my life
In my “previous life”, I was working unbalanced hours in an unhealthy and very stressful corporate job. I had a very successful career as an expat in Europe for 18 years, and it was really exciting at first. But then it really hit me – I was miserable! At work, I was seeing a large number of colleagues extremely unhappy, stressed, depressed, on anxiety medication or sent home with burnouts. And that’s where I was headed! I spent very little time with my son and husband, I was losing myself and my joy for life. I was sick and extremely unhappy. And one day this lifestyle took its toll on my health. In 2012, after many years with undiagnosed symptoms, I finally got my diagnosis: Hashimoto hypothyroid, an autoimmune disease in which my own body was attacking itself. This is not normal right? Your body should not be harming itself… so what went wrong?
Luckily, hitting rock bottom can sometimes save your life, and that’s what it did for me.
While searching for a way to heal myself from my Hashimoto, I came across the Institute for Integrative Nutrition and became a Certified Health Coach. I loved their curriculum but most of all, I thought their holistic approach was what I was lacking in my life. A yo-yo dieter for most of my life, I thought that being healthy was about eating good food and exercising. I never thought that there needed to be a balance between mind, body, spirit. The more I read and learned about it, the more it all made sense to me. I started seriously questioning my belief system and realized that I believed something entirely different than what I’d been taught as a child.
I needed to make some serious lifestyle changes – quickly!!!
Time for change
#1: I started by changing my diet, adopting a raw vegan – plant based – gluten free lifestyle over the years. I love my fruits and veggies, nuts and seeds, and trying out new recipes. I do not push this or any other style of eating on my clients – what works for one person doesn’t work for everyone. So forget labels, diet fads, deprivation and extreme measures. Listening to your body and finding the right foods that nurture YOU and best support YOUR health is key (that’s what we call Bio-Individuality)! Our body is the most incredible machine, it knows what to eat and what’s good or not for you. You just need to stop and listen to the messages it’s sending you through discomfort or cravings.
#2: I joined yoga classes and started practicing meditation and positive affirmations. That same year, through a friend, I found out about Reiki. Although a bit skeptic at first, I was curious to learn about it and experiencing it myself. The benefits were amazing. I was calmer, I was able to take life situations in a different way, I felt at peace with myself and the world. It was just such a feeling of serenity, and I remember thinking to myself: “Is this what being happy feels like”? This was such a AHA moment for me that I decided to study Reiki and become a practitioner, sharing the benefits of this spiritual healing art with others.
#3: I practice self-care on a daily basis and make that a top priority. For many years, I thought that taking care of myself and making my happiness a priority was selfish. I put everybody else before me, and I was always second in the equation. But guess what? That was actually the worst thing I could be doing to myself. By taking “me” time and putting myself first, I now can give my best to others. Self-care is not a “maybe”, it’s a must, it doesn’t need to be anything fancy or expensive and it’s available to everyone, you just need to find something that gives you joy and brings you happiness.
Now I love my life and I’m feeling better than ever
After graduating from IIN, I ended up leaving my career in corporate finance, and became a full time health coach and business mentor. I also moved back home to Montreal, Canada to be closer to my family and friends. Two of the best decisions I ever made, and I have never had any regrets.
I wake up every day ready to take on the world because I have the best job ever! I get to help clients from around the world through their own journey and life experiences, finding balance in their lives, making the best lifestyle choices and loving themselves more. Through coaching sessions, business mentoring, workshops, cooking classes, courses, writing articles, group programs, and nutrition challenges, I help my clients design an authentic and meaningful life that they are in love with and brings them fulfillment. It’s all about making choices that stick for a lifetime, no quick and easy fix solutions.
I’m still learning, growing and evolving, but today I am the happiest I’ve ever been, I’ve been able to “quiet” the symptoms of my Hashimoto, I have loving relationships and a fulfilling career. And let me tell you, IT IS POSSIBLE TO HAVE IT ALL! You just need to make that first step.
